According to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), reports El-Rufa’i said the reason for suspending the second state university initiated by thebimmediate past Governor,Mukhtar Yero, was for lack of funds.“
The state government has no money toestablish a new university; the previous administration which initiated the plan, did not make any provision for it in the 2015 budget,” he said.

El-Rufa’i said his government would instead focus on improving existing facilities at the Kaduna State University (KASU).

The governor noted that infrastructure and learning facilities at KASU inadequate, hence the need upgrade them to place the university among the best in the country.
TETFund Executive Secretary, Prof Suleiman Bogoro, noted the KASU ghad in the last one year received N6 billion from the fund.
