The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Prof. Chigozie Asiabaka, has identified inadequate funding and activities of land speculators among the major challenges facing the institution.
He also listed inadequate library and laboratory facilities as well as limited number of lecture halls and hostels as other challenges.
Asiabaka spoke to journalists in Owerri while marking his fourth anniversary as the VC.
According to him, these challenges can impair the development of any university.
The authorities of the university, he therefore said, would engage government agencies, private institutions and international fund agencies to address these challenges.
He said, “This administration would not stop in its determined journey to institutional transformation until FUTO becomes an excellent vehicle for technological emancipation of the nation.”
