Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun has been announced by the Ondo State Government to succeed the former Vice Chancellor of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Olufemi Mimiko whose tenure as the VC elapsed last week Sunday.
A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade in Akure, said the appointment was with immediate effect.

He was the Rector of the State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO).
Born July,28 1964, Ajibefun, a First Class Honours graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) began his academic career in 1993 as an assistant lecturer, from where he rose to become an Associate Professor in October, 2006.
He has, before his rise to the rank of Associate Professor, had his M.Scand PhD at the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, respectively.
Prof. Ajibefun is also a member of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, the African Economic Research Consortium, the Asian Society of Agricultural Economists, the Nigerian Economic Society and the Nigerian Participatory Rural Appraisal Network.
Ajibefun is an outstanding scholar with evidence of scholarly publications in both local and international journals and parades remarkable years of experience in tertiary institution management.
