IAUE to Float Theatre Arts Department

Talented youths and those aspiring to join the acting profession can now hope to student Theatre Arts at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. This is because plans are on the way to float Theatre Arts and Media Education department in the Faculty of Humanities at the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Joseph Kinanee disclosed this at the premiere of the movie titled CHANGE produced by the Faculty of Humanities on Thursday 23 June, 2016 at the university auditorium.

He applauded the Faculty of Humanities for taking the bold step to showcase talents and project the image of the university. He also commended the students for acting as though they were professionally and added that with such excellent performance, the university was ready to commence Theatre Arts and Media Education department.

Professor Kinanee who urged the students to develop themselves for gainful self employment advised them to be of good behaviour and to draw valuable and practical lessons from the movie to sustain their stay at the university.

In his remarked. The Dean, faculty of humanities, Professor Folunsho Ogunleke thanked the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for the opportunity given to the faculty to showcase its talents and called for attitudinal change for the overall growth and development of the university.

President, Faculty of Humanities, Martins Samuel in his address stated that the movie which portrayed life on campus was born out of deep passion for change with the principal objective of drawing the attention of students, teachers parents, the government and all those concerned to the need of returning to the ancient landmark where the ultimate goal of education would amount to producing individual with sound knowledge who would become useful to themselves and bring positive change to the society.

The event featured short plays and drama, poem songs and dance performances.
