Apply for 12th Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition

Application for the 12th version of Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition for secondary school students has commenced.
Mike Okonkwo Essay Competition was initiated in the year 2004, as part of activities to celebrate the Birthday of the Presiding Bishop of TREM, Dr. Mike Okonkwo (MFR) and more importantly to contribute to the development of the Educational Sector.
The 2015 edition will be open from March 9 – May 15, 2015.
The theme for this year’s edition is “The Nigerian Political Class and the Citizens Quest for Good Governance”. 
According to a press release by the Corporate Affairs section of the church, the competition is aimed at contributing to the educational sector in the country and to sensitise the students by encouraging them to understand important national issues around them.
This year, the entry requirements include, essay of maximum of 2,000 words, a passport photograph of the student, full name, address, contact telephone number, class, school and name and telephone contact of their principals.
The release directed interested participants to submit their essays via email to essay@trem.org or by post to The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) International Headquarters, Obanikoro/ Anthony, Lagos.
Like previous years, the star winner school will get three internet ready desktop computers and a printer, while the student will go home with a trophy, laptop, N100, 000 cash and a plaque.
While the first- runner up school will get two internet ready desktop computers and a printer and the student a cash prize of N75, 000 with a plaque, the second-runner up school will get an internet ready computer and student will get N50, 000 cash prize and a plaque.
The prizes for this year’s competition will be presented to the winners at the 16th Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture, which has been scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 at the Muson Centre, Lagos State.
